Focus Areas

Restorative Justice

UAC supports restorative approaches that complement, not replace, accountability and public safety. We believe justice should be both principled and constructive—holding individuals responsible for their actions while also encouraging rehabilitation and lawful reintegration when appropriate. An effective justice system recognizes context, individual growth, and the potential for redemption, while never compromising the safety of the public or the rights of victims.

Addressing Disproportionate Sentencing

We advocate for proportionate and individualized sentencing that reflects both the seriousness of the offense and the full context of the case. While incarceration is necessary in certain circumstances to protect society, we oppose excessive or inflexible sentencing frameworks that fail to distinguish between individuals who pose a genuine risk and those who have demonstrated reform, low risk, and a commitment to lawful living. Justice should be measured, fair, and rooted in both accountability and reason.

Upholding Human Rights Abroad

UAC stands against the misuse of legal systems by authoritarian regimes and institutions that unjustly detain, persecute, or silence individuals. We advocate for those facing political, religious, or unjust prosecution abroad while maintaining a consistent commitment to the rule of law, human dignity, and international legal norms. Our advocacy is grounded in the belief that justice systems should protect rights—not be weaponized against individuals.

Community Centered Solutions

Crime affects victims, families, and communities as a whole. Recognizing this, we promote correctional responses that prioritize public safety, victim respect, and societal healing. Where appropriate, we support tailored solutions such as restitution, structured supervision, and community service—measures that reinforce accountability while allowing individuals who have demonstrated reform to actively repair harm and contribute positively to society.

Addressing the Trial Penalty

The right to a fair trial is a cornerstone of the American justice system. Yet in some cases, individuals who exercise this constitutional right face disproportionately severe outcomes compared to plea agreements. UAC seeks to address the most excessive applications of the trial penalty, ensuring that the pursuit of due process is not met with punitive retaliation, while maintaining respect for lawful convictions and judicial integrity.

Preserving Systemic Integrity

A fair justice system must remain impartial, credible, and resistant to misuse. UAC opposes politically, financially, or institutionally motivated prosecutions and supports individuals who may be subject to disproportionate or unjust legal action. Our goal is not to undermine accountability, but to ensure that the law is applied consistently, fairly, and in a manner that strengthens public confidence and societal stability.
